Convention: FGIS and its subsidiaries undertake to recruit engineers and technicians graduated from USTM
(Le NouveauGabon) - In order to promote the employability of young Gabonese graduates, theGabonese Sovereign Wealth Fund (FGIS), its technical subsidiaries and the Masuku University of Science and Technology (USTM) are now bound by an agreement. A press release made public on June 16, 2022 by the FGIS, indicates that the agreement signed on June 3, 2022 on the sidelines of the USTM-Enterprises Forum, commits the FGIS to grant internships and recruit graduates of this technological and scientific university.
In this context,Gabon Power Company (GPC), one of the subsidiaries of the FGIS, dedicated to the realization of energy projects, will recruit engineers and technicians between 2024 and 2026, for the operation and maintenance of power plants under construction in Gabon. The FGIS has a hiring plan that provides for the coming years, "the recruitment by 2025 of 29 people on the site of the Ngoulmendjim dam, 27 people by 2025 also for the new drinking water production plant in Ntoum (called Ntoum 7), 30 people by 2024 for the Owendo gas-fired thermal power plant, and 22 people by2026 for the work on the Dibwangui power plant," explains Aunel Loumba, head of communication and public relations at FGIS.
According to Aunel Loumba, this is about recruitment for Gabonese graduates of the USTM who may be solicited on the various GPC projects in terms of study, design, various maintenance operations.
For its part,FMCT, another subsidiary of the FGIS responsible for the development of the Baie des Rois, will hire technical profiles in civil engineering and building between 2022 and 2023. Technicians who will certainly be useful in the city infrastructure, equipment, and real estate projects that the FMCT should carryout in the coming years.
"Through this partnership, we wish to fully participate in the strengthening of technical and scientific skills in Gabon, as well as the emergence of local talent," said Akim Mohamed Daouda, Chief Executive Officer of FGIS.
This 5-year renewable partnership also provides in its priority areas the co-creation of diploma courses for employees of the Fund's technical companies and USTM students, as well as the intervention of executives and managers of these companies as temporary teachers at USTM; co-supervision and co-financing of thesis and research projects; the organization of job forums... There is also a disability and social component, which will aim to develop the possibilities of welcoming students with disabilities within the structures of the FGIS and its entities, supports the fund.
The USTM is a public institution inaugurated in 1986 in Franceville. Dedicated to the fields of technology and science, this university offers training at all levels, up to the doctorate.
