The Baie des Rois obtains special investment zone status
Libreville, Gabon, May 5, 2023 – The Baie des Rois, a sustainable urban development project led by the Façade Maritime Champ Triomphal (FMCT), a subsidiary of the Gabonese Strategic Investment Fund (FGIS), has obtained the status of Special Investment Zone (SIZ).
This status, announced during the minister's council on May 24, 2023, will allow potential investors to establish themselves in the Baie des Rois SIZ and benefit from incentive measures. Managed since 2016 by FMCT, the Baie des Rois SIZ covers an area of approximately 40 hectares. It is located on the waterfront of Libreville and is open to:
• the development of tourism-related activities;
• service provisions related to activities within the SIZ;
• the development and implementation of commercial activities;
• urban development projects;
• specialized service activities.
The Baie des Rois SIZ is part of the implementation of the Accelerated Transformation Plan (ATP) whose aim is to promote the development of a sustainable and inclusive city model for future generations.
Currently, over 500 workers are employed and actively engaged in 9 ongoing construction projects in the North and Central zones, including building construction, maritime projects, and infrastructure development.
